May 20 2015- SRING/SUMMER 2015
Spring always arrives early here in southern France with an explosion of golden blossoms on the hills of the Tanneron. This heralds the Fete de Mimosa in Cannes, soon followed by the Fete de Citron in Menton and the centuries-old Carnival de Nice. The Cannes Film Festival is presently in full-swing and, for the first time in years, it has not rained bringing an extra sparkle to the action on the red carpet. However, there has been a dearth of dance performances apart from a successful production of La Sylphide by the Ballet Nice Mediterranee, which Christina reviews in the June issue of Dancing Times. The summer dance programmes look interesting with a visit by the Bejart Ballet Lausanne to Monte-Carlo as well as two different programmes with the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. The regular summer festivals include dance performances in Avignon and Vaison-la-Romaine all of which Christina reviews for Dancing Times and www.dancetabs.com.
